Nov. 3 (UPI) — The Australian woman accused of cooking up a deadly dinner laced with toxic mushrooms has appealed her murder conviction.
Erin Patterson, 51, the Australian mother woman of killing her estranged husband’s parents and aunt by serving them a dish containing poisonous death cap mushrooms, was sentenced in September to three life sentences plus 25 years for murder and attempted murder in the state of Victoria.
A conviction appeal is not automatically guaranteed under Australian law.
Last month, the announcement of a pending appeal was filed against the now-convicted mother on the basis that “the sentence handed down to Erin Patterson is manifestly inadequate,” according to Australian prosecutors.
On Monday, Patterson’s appeal was officially lodged after her legal team got the green light by the court.
However, her appeal grounds have yet to be disclosed.
